Bard College (Continuing Studies Program)
The Bard Continuing Studies Program was initiated in 1971 to meet the special needs of adults in the region who wished to earn a bachelor's degree. Shaped largely by students' individual needs and interests, the Program provides an education for those 24 years of age and older who seek to complete their undergraduate studies with other adult learners. Learning acquired through self-education or life experience may be presented for translation into college credits if appropriate.
Successful completion of a course of study in the program leads to a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science or, for the student who combines applied fields with the liberal arts, a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree. The degree requires completion of 124 credits. Students must spend at least one year in the program and must earn at least 40 credits at Bard College.

Blackberry Hill Farm
Growing and producing beautiful luxury fleeces and yarns from the beautiful llamas, alpacas, sheep and angora rabbits that are cared for on our family farm. The Llama Garden is a year round, hands on program that entertains and educates children about llamas and other fiber producing animals. Includes story-telling, animal husbandry, a history of llamas, and crafting a project with llama and sheep fiber to take home. Join a day or weekend retreat of “fiber” animals and knit, crochet, spin or felt. Springtime brings lambing and shearing and the beginnings of the greenhouse, specializing in herb and perennial plants. Summer is a full schedule of farmer’s markets and fairs. Relax in the flourishing gardens, which provide peace, beauty and comfort. During Fall, we prepare the farm for winter and attend the New York State Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY, in October and several holiday fairs and boutiques throughout December. Winter is the time for wood stoves, baking and the holidays. From February to March, we harvest and cook maple sap down to the syrup at the “Sugar Shack.” We invite you to join our retreats and enjoy many activities in knitting, crocheting, elting and spinning classes and other workshops. Participate in a typical day of a working “fiber farm”or just relax. Allow us to treat you to a great day sitting by the beautiful garden, spending time with the animals or keeping warm by the fire. All retreat programs include a nutritional midday meal and snack, using homegrown, local and organic products.

Brendon Montessori School
The Brendon Montessori School was established in 1982 and is based on the Montessori principles which develop independence, critical thinking, responsibility, respect for oneself, others and the environment.
The Montessori method emphasizes the three-year cycle (beginning at 3 years of age) in which the child learns at his/her own pace in an aesthetically pleasing and stimulating setting. Our goal is to assist the child in self-development and to become a lifelong learner and problem solver.
The classroom encourages social interaction, cooperative learning, peer teaching and emotional development. Montessori teachers use observational skills to match students' developmental needs to materials and activities. This allows the teacher to guide students in creating their individual learning plan. The Montessori parent is an integral part of the child's total development.

Crossroads School
Crossroads is different. The converted home is warm and inviting. Algebra seems forgotten to the teen searching in vain to find the giggling toddler "hiding" in the closet. It's hard to imagine her on CNN, passionately expounding on education. Parents call the change in their children "miraculous!" But do the warm fuzzies translate into academics? Ask the former student who entered UCLA, as a junior, at 16! Or the two 8th graders who passed the Regents that two-thirds of high schoolers in NY State failed. The founder piloted the school's prototype in California, where it drew international acclaim. In addition to CNN, they were praised by Gov. Wilson, lauded by Congress, featured nationally on ABC, and presented speeches at a U.N. conference. Serving preschool-high school, Crossroads offers a rare opportunity to apply spiritual, not religious, principles daily. Their approach is customized to meet individual needs - some thrive on traditional structure, others flourish with minimal guidance; some take advanced courses, others focus on art. They have multiage rooms, phenomenal science and art programs, and weekly trips. Their unorthodox blend of philosophies has borne a bountiful harvest for all, "prep school" to "special needs." With a stunning setting in Brewster, Crossroads is centrally located for the lower Hudson Valley.

Darrow School
Darrow School, an independent, co-ed, boarding and day school in New Lebanon, NY, offers a comprehensive college-preparatory curriculum within an atmosphere that supports the pursuit of intellectual curiosity, individual creativity, and the joy of learning. The School has been recognized as a pioneer in the field of "hands-on learning," and Darrow teachers use real-world topics and a dynamic approach to make the subject matter come alive.
Darrow's small classes, averaging nine students, afford everyone the chance to participate. Head of School Nancy Wolf says, "Because Darrow is a small boarding school, there is an opportunity for strong connections between students and teachers. Teachers get to know students well, and expectations are high. They push students to do their best in classes, athletics, and co-curricular activities."
The beautiful mountainside campus is located on the site of the historic Mt. Lebanon Shaker Village, and Darrow continues to embrace the Shaker legacy of sustainability and stewardship. An important feature of the academic program is its focus on environmental, social, and economic resources, and students discover the value of finding balance within one's self, the community, and global society. The National Association of Independent Schools recognized the excellence of this program in February 2005 with a Leading Edge Honoree Award.
The substantive nature and climate of Darrow School offer students a setting where their abilities can prosper, and the School's distinctive educational philosophy is suited to all learning styles. At Darrow, students reach their full potential as motivated, thriving, college-bound learners.
