Help Yourself to Healing

New Year's resolutions from the inside-out!

Starting 2008 from the inside-out

Happy, Healthy New Year to you all!

If, like many of us, you want to start the year in a good way after possible indulgences over the holidays, now is a great time to set healthy intentions for 2008. However, our old ways of making resolutions can be ineffective. Make sure your New Year’s resolutions come from the inside-out and not from the outside-in.

Choosing actions that you know (from your own experience) will make you feel healthier, is living from the inside-out. Listening to your inner voice and experience is empowering! For example, I know it feels good for me to stretch in the morning, and so I will remember this healthy feeling to help me keep my commitment throughout this year.

Choosing to make decisions because other people say “you should do this or that” for your health, is living from the outside-in. This sets up an inner struggle. So make sure any decision comes from your inner sense of what is good for you and not just to please someone else.

Your attitudes can help or hinder your health.

When you are clear on the healthy choices you want to make, focus on empowering words such as “I can”, “I choose to”, “I love to”, and “I will” (example: I choose to stretch in the morning).

Avoid saying, “I’ll try to” (that could keep you stuck forever!) or “I won’t do”… The subconscious works better with a clear positive message.
