Help Yourself to Healing
Multi-faceted like a diamond!
We are multi-faceted with many talents and gifts. Yet it’s amazing how some people bring out the best in us, while others can’t see beyond the surface, or even bring out the worst in us. When looked at with the eyes of a loving friend, a person can be described as “loving, assertive, and courageous” and, encouraged by the light of love, actually become more so. But if someone takes an instant dislike to that very same person, the words used might be more judgmental—“controlling, pushy, and foolhardy,” and the very tone of voice spreads a tightness in the throat and a sinking feeling in the gut.
The interplay of different perspectives and angles lead to vastly different experiences and consequences in the ongoing dance of life. With awareness, this ever-changing opportunity leads to growth of understanding and tolerance for all sides and perspective. But, if we become rigidly stuck in a only one way of looking at things from a particular angle, we become more like hardened concrete, forgetting that the trick is to stay flexible to enjoy the play of light in movement.
Our nature is multi-dimensional. The light in our mind, the light in our emotions and the light of our spirit all affect the quality of health and well being of the body. The more light we can develop within us, and the more we appreciate the light in others, the healthier our energy! Light and love in many teachings are interchangeable. The more we can offer love and compassion not only to others but to ourselves, the more freely we’ll be able to express our true nature, and again, the healthier our energy becomes!
We certainly can’t be on the go all the time, even although the springing forward of the clock gives us more light to play with! I know how easy it is for me to overdo it (working to much and too long) even as the exuberance of the birds announces the seasonal changes afoot. To maintain balance and harmony, it’s time to get out for that slower paced walk, marvel at the roaring waterfall cascading over ice, stop to hear melting waters rush by, be still, breathe, and appreciate the moment.
And back home there’s still time to enjoy the comfort of the velvety dark in the evening replenishing my depleted energy and renewing my diminished light, if I have stretched myself too thin.
